Final Blog Post!!
This year in Etymology I have read a total of 1790 pages, I never thought that I would ever read that many pages in my entire life. All of the pages were fun fiction books. I don't think that I would have been able to read all of those pages if they would have not been fiction. Before this class I did not read at all. I hated reading I did not even do it for fun. This spring break when I was on the beach I had a book in my hand almost the entire time. I love to read and I know I will continue this summer reading for fun. I did not have trouble finding a book that I liked, I always asked people for recommendations since I did not like to read. I started reading the girley types of books, and I ended up reading ghost stories. I never ever thought that I would read a ghost story. When I read it is hard for me to concentrate because I have my phone with me and I have so much going on. I really tried to work on having no distractions when I was reading for etymology. I can not wait to go to the pool this summer and have a good book to get lost into. Before this class I had probly read about five poems in my life. Now I find myself searching poems that remind me of the day that I am having. I really enjoy good poetry today.

The story had a very dissapointing ending to it. Basically if ended with us finding out that Marcy was the one that killed Uncle Will, and Marcy and Iris getting in a huge fight. Anna tried to stay out of it but ened up in the middle because she has to tell the police everything. The only happy part was at the end when Zack very cleverly told Anna that he had a big thing for her! And guess what....they kisssed :) precious. I think that over all the book was a dud except for the ending when they told eachother they like eachother. I would deffintantly not recoment this book to anyone I should have just stopped reading it half way through.

Prom :)
Prom for me was this weekend. We had so much fun! The theme was a Night in Central Park. The school was decorated beautifuly, it did not even look like a high school! I had a great time except for the fact that I did not go to bed till 6 in the morning!!

Elizabeth Chandler- The Back Door of Midnight
Page# 259-275
The story is deffintnatly picking up! Anna went outside to explore around the mansion. She was going around at night and exploring. She found many similarities to the poem that her birth mother had written before she died. When Anna was exploring she found a little door in the floor of the gazebo. She opened it up and saw a leg, she was so scared to see what it was. Then her Aunt Iris popped up and said, "Get in!!". Anna got in and asked her aunt what was going on, she told her that Marcy was coming. Iris went out of the door and talked to Iris about killing her mother and Will. The way that Marcy was talking it made her seem so crazy and delusional for killing so many people. Anna knew that she had to get out of there, she she asked her aunt to distract Marcy while she ran into the mansion.
This has been the most exciting reading so far. It was weird to find out that Iris is Marcy's mother. That makes me wonder so many things. I think that alot will unfold in the next few chapters

Wired Families
The article about the families being so intrigued in their gadgets that they do not even talk to each other is so true. Electronic devices have completely taken over the lives of Americans. Between I pods, laptops, and cell phones there is no hope for families. Sometimes when I am driving I look over and I see people that are driving and texting at the same time it makes me sick. I want to tell them to put the phone down before they kill themselves or someone else. Families are falling apart because instead of playing board games together they are all on their electronic devices separately.

The story line has picked up alot since the last time that I read. Anna was in her uncle's den trying to get some help from paper work to figure out his death. She was reading papers when she heard a loud bang, she went in to another room to find her Aunt Iris with a hammer smashing the mirror infront of her. She yelled for her aunt to stop, but she did not. When she finally stopped her aunt said that she was smashing the faces of the voices that were in her head. Iris retreated to her room to take a nap. Anna needed some air and took a long walk. When Anna returned she found that Iris was asleep, so she decided to explore somemore in her uncles den to get information. She found a poem that her birth mother had written. She was reading it and other things when her aunt came in, grabbed the papers went to the kitched and lit them on fire. Anna was upset because that was the only clue to some help to figure out why and how all of this happened.
Im really glad that the plot is beginning to form! Aunt Iris really freaks me out though. If I was Anna I would be scared for my saftey living in that house with her and thats it. I think that even though the papers were burned Anna will be able to figure out the death of her uncle on her own.

Anna went back to the place that her uncle's life had been taken trying to figure out what happend to him and how. When she got to the feild it was very open and somewhat wooded, she walked back into the wooded area looking for some sort of clue. The weather began to get very strange so she started jogging a little bit. After she had explored and decided to head back, she she was walking back to her car she was attacked from behind and pushed to the ground. The person or people who attacked her told her that if she told anyone about it there would be more poeple coming afer her. They told her to keep her head down until she counted to 100 then she could get up and go home. She waited for a while, got up, and rushed home. When Anna returned home Zach was there. He could tell that she was very upset and something had happened to her. She tried to act like everything was ok and she could take care of herself, but she longed for Zachs help. He cleaned her up and questioned her about what had happened to her. When Zach left he told her to lock all the doors because he didnt know who would be coming around the house that night. That night Anna could not sleep at all, she thought she kept hearing things, she wasnt just hearing things there really was someone outside the house watching it. She crept around the house tring to figure out who it was. Suddenly she saw Zach shining a light at the person outside, it was Mr. Gill, Erikas dad. This was very strange to her, but she was glad that Zach was looking out for her.
I was glad that in these chapters the story line pick up a bit. It was getting very boring. I deffintnatly think that Zach has a love interest in Anna, he is not just pretending. I also think that Anna knows she likes him she just dosent want to admit it. I will bw interested to see their relationship grow.

Anna left Zach at the part, because he tried to kiss her and she knew that he was just playing her. When she was in the restroom she talked to Erikas dad Mr. Gill, he told her things about her real mother. He said that he offered to maarry her so that she could keep the baby which was Anna. He told her that he wanted her to wear her hair up and wear pinks and reds because that is what her mother used to wear. The next day at work Zach came and wanted to talk her about what happened at the party. She talked to him about how she knew that he was just playing her, and they talked about how Erika was innocent and did not kill her uncle.
These were more uneventful chapters. I really wish that the plot would pick up. Im about to put this book down and be done reading it. I really want things to pick up a bit!

Art Gallery
The dull colors and shading of Loren Law's painting "Waiting Game" allude a very lifeless and lethargic feeling. The way that the two figures are looking down at the ground create a hostile feeling to the poem. The artist used very vapid greys and blues to make the poem have a somber feeling. The poem is called the "Waiting Game", the way that the colors slowly fade out enhance to the thought of waiting for something to come and it slowly fadeing away. Monday, April 18, 2011
Soul Surfer
This weekend I went to the movie soul surfer with my friends. It was so good! I would recomend it ti anyone. It was a movie that teens along with adults would like. Also, it would be a great movie to go to eith your family. It was about Bethany Hamiltion the really good surfer that got her arm bitten off by a shark when she was surfing. The movie shows her life before and after the accident, and all of her struggles that come with that. I really enjoyed it and deffintantly want to see it again.

April 18th 2011 Elizabeth Chandler- The Back Door of Midnight Page#97-157 Anna continued to work at the shop that Zachs step-mother owns. Anna ran into Zach and his dog, he was being very flirty with her but she acted as though she did not care because she knew in the back of her mind that he was just playing her. She took Clyde down to the river and got in the boat with him, the next thing she knew she was tipped over in the water with the dog. When Anna got home that night she heard Aunt Iris talking to her self or what she thinks are voices. She was talking about her husband Will and how he hasent left her yet. When Anna was working the next day Zach stopped by and asked her if she wanted to go a birthday party with him. She told him that she was busy. When Anna returned home she went to her Uncle Wills den and looked around to see if she could possibly find some clues that would lead her to figuring out the death, she really found nothing. Anna was thinking more abou the party and deided if she went then maybe she would hear people talking and find out soem information abou the fire. She went over to Zachs house and told him that she wanted to go now. Zach picked her up the next day for the party and he was suprised at how dressed up she was. They went to the party for Erika, a girl that Anna knew was totaly into Zach. At the party she heard people talking abou the fire, she tried to listen to what they were saying but it was very difficult for her to hear. These cahpters really didnt have anything that interesting going on in them. I was kind of disspaopinted in them. Hopefully the next reading will be a little more eventfull.

April 14th 2011 Elizabeth Chandler- The Back Door of Midnight Page#41-97 Anna finds her aunt and uncle's house very creepy, and she does some exploring in it. They live on a lake or pond, but for some reason she is very frightned of the dark water. Her aunt is very strange in that she calles her Joanna, which was her birth mothers name that gave her up for adoption. During the night Anna has strage dreams about her uncle and a fire again, she finds this creepy because her uncle died in the car that was on fire. Anna goes to the town sherrif to try to get some answers about her dead uncle. He did not give Anna the answers that she wanted, she decided she would have to try to figure it out on her own. Anna went into town and met Zach Flemming, one of her aunt and uncles neighbors. She was very attracted to him. Anna went into a store and saw that there was a sign for help wanted, she asked for the job and she got it! She came to find out that it was Zach's step-mom that owned the store. When Anna returned home she went out to the pond and saw Zach swimming around, she did nto want to get in so she took the row boat out and acted like she knew what she was doing. Anna overheard Zach and a girl named Erika talking about how it was Zachs job to keep Anna busy, and make it seem like he liked her and just play with her mind. She said this because she has ties to the death of her uncle and she doesent want Anna finding anything out. The novel is starting to devlop a very interesting plot, I think that Anna will try to go indeth about what happened to her uncle and figure the whole thing out. I also think instead of Zach playing her she will play Zach now.

Modern Miami House
The sharp lines, openness, and abstract fixtures of the rooms in Pharrell Williams home create a contemporary and fresh setting. Almost all of the walls in the home are white, which makes it seem clean and very simple. The chair with the human legs as the chair legs add a very stylish and modern feel to the home. Outside, on the deck the seating is very boxy and has very sharp lines. The couches and chairs create a sharp and trendy feeling to the outside of the house. The piano is probably the best part of the entire house. It is clear, which means that you can see all of the gears and machines in the inside of it. This alludes to a clear clean cut feel to the person living in the house.

Im starting a new book of the series by Elizabeth Chandler. I hope that this book is not going to be as scary as the others, but still good at the same time. This book starts out with the main character Anna going back to her aunt and uncles house for the summer after her uncle Will had sent her a letter asking her to come because there were things that he needed to explain to her about the family and her aunt Iris. Before she left for their house she had a weird dream that she was in a fire and she could hear her uncle Will, but could not really see him that well because of all the smoke. When she arrived at her aunt and uncles house she found out that her uncle had been killed in the trunk of a car. The car was set on fire. Anna realized what her uncle was talking about in the letter about needing to talk to her about Iris. Iris seemed to be going crazy, she heard voices in her head and talked back to them to get them to stop. Iris also "talked to animals" and helped them with their problems. Anna wants to find out how the murder of her uncle happened and who did it.
I feel like this book will be good, I just hope that its not too scary because the last one that I read freaked me out alot! I could not even read it in the night time. I think that Anna will find out about her uncle at the same time she is finding out weird things about her aunt.

Spring Break
I Had a very good spring break! WE went to Fort Myers Beach, the weather was beautiful, the beaches were awesome, and I was with some good friends! Basically everyday I went running down to the Pier in the morning then read until about 11, then went out to the beach and did not come in until 6 when it was time to get ready to go to dinner. We at soem really good food while we were down threre too. I think I gained about 5 ponds! I would deffintantly go back to Fort Myers, It was alot of fun. :)

Soccer Phenom
The things that Indi Cowe does with a soccer ball are crazy! The I watched the video with my mouth open the entire time. She puts so much time and effort into something that she is passionate about. She may shine out on the soccer field, but she is not the most popular girl in school. In the article she states, "My sister is my best friend." Normally people's sisters are not the person they would say is their best friend. The also "spelled her name wrong in the event program". Although, Indi is one of the best on the field she does not seem to be the most likable girl off the field. That could be because she is arrogant about what she can do, but it does not say why she is not liked. I think that she is awesome, and what she can do is brilliant.
Where I See Myself in 10 Years
All of these different teens see their futures in very different ways. The girl that wants to be a hair and makeup artist is actually really sad. She is a beautiful girl and she wants to be that profession because she is insecure about herself and wants to make other girls look pretty. The girl that wants to be a veterinarian in the army is a little different, but she has goals for herself. I did not even know that there was such thing as an army veterinarian. I think that the guy that wants to be the marijuana baker is the most strange career. To me I would think that that would be illegal, and he seems a little sketchy to be doing that for people.
I can honestly say, I don't know where I can see myself in ten years. I know for a fact that I want to go to college and get a degree and work, but I do not know what I want to do. I also know that I want to be married with children. I really want twins that are named Luke and Libby, but I do not know if that will happen. I want a happy family living in a cute safe neighborhood.

1000 Awesome Things
Almost all of these are soooo true! I could sit there and read all 1000 of them, they make me smile because they are so true. One of my favorites is #468- the anticipation right before the first kiss. Because it seriously the best thing! One that I do not agree with would be pain, and going to a movie alone because those things are just not awesome.

Lauren is thinking about when she woke up and went down to the dock at her aunts house and thought that she was dreaming, but then saw her aunt on the dock scrubbing her mothers blood off of the dock. She puked. Today was the day that she was going back to the place that her mother died, it only took seven years to return. After she went to the dock she went aroud the house and saw Nora, the weird cousin, in the garden. She began to shake when she saw Lauren. She continued to tell Lauren that she named on of her roses Lauren, and that the thorns make her bleed. Nora said that she needed fishing line to tie up the roses, and that it was in the boathouse. She also said that it was locked because "she" was in there. The she that Nora was talking about is Laurens dead mom. This really freaked out Lauren. Lauren went into the boat house, and Nora shut and locked the door behind her. Lauren tried everything to get the door open, screaming, kicking, and pushing. Finally Nick and Mr. Frank opened the door. They told Lauren that Nora is crazy and that she needs help.
Nora is really weird. She does little things that no one can figure out and it freaks everyone out. Her mother thinks that she is just going through a phase, but Lauren sees through that. I think that there is something very wrong with Nora, and more weird things are going to be happening.

"Country Boys"
In the documentary "Country Boys" two boys, Cody and Chris, are followed around and their lives are taped. Although these two boys school life is very alike, the boys themselves vary vastly. Also, the diction that the boys use are very much different. Chris is a boy that has a mom and dad and sister, he lives in a trailor, and goes to a developmental school. His father drinks a lot, and has serosis and can not work. Chris' mother has to clean to keep an income coming in for the family. Cody is alike in the way that his sare not very present in his parentals are not present in his life. When he was young his mother shot herself and then his father passed away. He lived with his aunt for a while, but they did not get along. He currently lives with Liz. The two boys diction is very differnt even though they do go to the same school. Altough, Chris does not excell in school he uses intilectual words that depict a studious feel when listning to him. Chris states that, "all I care about is having a meaning in my life". Chris is creating a school newspaper and says, "im not one of the fastese writers..." even with this he still tries his best in everything that he does. Cody on the other hand uses words and phrases that create a lollygagging inactive feeling. He acts as though he does not really care about anything. He even told one of his teachers to "shut up". From his apperance people assume that he jsut messes around, he needs to prove them wrong. Cody states, "they call me a freak all the time". Altough the boys are very different in character they are both after one goal, to pass high school.

In the middle of the book it changed to another story. In the beginning it starts out seven years earlier. The story starts out with a girl named Lauren who wakes up from a bad dream, about her mother. She realized that what she thought was a dream might not have been. She ran out of her aunts house down to the water, and saw her cousins running around and screaming. Next, she saw her aunt carrying her mother out of the water. Lauren was screaming "mommy"! Her aunt then said," she wont answer honey". Lauren waited seven years to go back to the place where her mom died. Finally, she decided to come back. Lauren is going and staying with her aunt Jule, and her cousins Nora and Holly. Nora has changed a lot, she is very weird and scared of water now. Lauren's family now does not have a lot of money. Lauren said that her dad gives her money all the time. She decided that she was going to help her family out and give them some money.
I think that I am really going to like this story. Lauren is going back to Westeria to ind out if her mom actually drowned or if someone did it to her. I don't think this story is going to be as scary as the one about Megan and her grandmothers ghost. I still think it might be a little creepy though.

Picture Book Blog
I loved looking at the old picture books!! It reminded me of all the times that my grandma would read the books to me. Also, my mom always used to read me the picture book "Love you Forever". It was our favorite when I was a little girl. I did not realize that all of those books were so old! I thought they were written when I was born. One book that I wished that would have been on there that was not was "Rainbow Fish". That was my ultimate favorite children s book.

Morp
Ok, morp this year was nothing like what it has been in the past. The teachers we so strict about the dancing going on. I can not believe that they actually kicked people out. I had an ok time, but I left at 10:30ish. I think that if they are going to be that strict for prom all the students should just go somewhere else and not have any teachers be there, and just get our own DJ. It also got wayyyy too hot in the gym!!

Ok these were by far the weirdest chapters in the entire book. After Megan went and talked to Mrs. Riley she went straight to the mill to figure out what was going on. She was there alone and tried to take in everything to get a sense of what was happening with the whole situation. She heard a noise and hid behind something, now she heard two voices and figured out that it was Matt and Mrs. Riley. Her head kept going from present to past and was was very confused. She knew that Matt was Thomas reincarnated, and she was Avril. She thought that Matt/ Thomas was trying to hurt her, so she climbed a laddar, she ened up falling and everything went black. When she awoke she was in the hospital and Matt was sitting next to her. She asked him if was all a dream and he said no and explained everything to her. Mrs. Riley had put drugs in her tea when she went and talked to her. She is also the one that drugged Avril so many years ago and killed her! During the fall of Megan, a pole hit Mrs. Riley and killed her. Matt explained why him and the grandma had been acting so weird latley, because they both knew that she was Avril. Matt and Megan/ Thomas and Avril, ened up having a relationship together just like many years before.
So that was the end of the book, well the one story of the book. Totaly not what I was expecting to happen. I thought that mrs. Riley was totay just trying to help Megan out. I never thought that she would be the one to try and kill her.

The four left the party, and Megan fell right to sleep when they got home because she has not been sleeping well at all. She had yet another weird dream. She was Avril and she was in the house with Thomas, Avrils sisters boy friend. He ened up kissing her, and Helem, the sister, saw the whole thing. In the dream Helen got so angry at Avril she pused her down the stairs! Megan woke up to find Matt asking if she was alright. She had actually falled down the stairs, it was just not in a drea. Matt asked her what happened, she told him what she was dreaming about and he suggested that she should leave because of everyhting that was going on at the house. Matt took her into the library and opened one of the drawers and pulled out a picture of Avril. Shockingly it looked exactly like Megan, which is really strange because she was adopted. Megan was so freaked out that she went to talk to Mrs. Riley again about this ghost or whatever it was. Mrs. Riley explained that the day she was sitting there was the anniversary of Avrils death. She believed that Megan was Avil reincarnated, and she needed to go to the mill to try to save herself from dying.
This story just got soooo weird! The fact that Megan looks exactly like Avril just really freaks me out. I cant read this book at night before I go to bed because it freaks me out so much.

The four of the kids are headed to Kristy's party. Matt and Megan picked up Alex, then went to pick up Megan. Alex and Sophie sat in the back seat and Matt and Megan sat in the front seat. Alex told Megan that he kept her valentine that she had made in fifth grade for him. When they were driving, they went on a road and they call the curve on the road deadman's curve. When they were driving past it Megan got a really quite and had a weird look on her face. They all asked if she was okay and she just said yes and got out of the car. Kristy's house was huge, the party was out back and by the lake. Alex and Megan went out of the dock and talked. Megan kept looking back up at the house to see what Matt and Sophie were doing. Matt came out to the dock when Alex left and Megan told him that he could have any girl that he wanted so he should be lucky that a girl like Sophie is interested in him.
Not much really happened in these pages that was very exciting. The only thing that was really was exciting was the part about Megan getting the weird feeling when they went around deadman's curve. That might lead to something that happened with the grandmother and Avril.

Megan is now working at a little store called Yesterdayz in the town that her grandmother lives in. She just works Wednesdays Thursdays and Saturdays. Matt, Megans cousin, and his friend Alex saw Megan walking down the street so they picked her up. Alex asked Megan out on a date with him, and Megan said yes. She had already pormised Sophie they were going to hang out, so they decided that all four of them were going to go to a party. Megan really wanted to see the old mill because she thought that it would help her to discover what was going on in the house. Matt did not want her going at all, so he said that he had to go with her if she was going to be going there. When Megan whet inside the mill she gasped and realized there were the wheels and gears she had seen in her dream. Matt and Megan quickly left the mill. When they got home grandmother saw their dirty shoes and Matt told her they had been at the mill. She was very angry with Megan, she did not want her going there at all.
Everything in the story got alot more weird when Megan realized that the wheels that she had seen in her dream were in the mill. Im not sure what to think about all the weird things that are going on to Megan, and how Matt seems to know things but is not telling her.

At the 2009 National Spelling Bee competition in Washington DC, over 200 students compete to take the title of national spelling bee champion. Two students that are followed and reported on in the fild Spellbound are Neil and April. They are two very differnt people along with their parents. Neil is a very confident and reserved speller, and April is very shy and pessimistic. Although, these two differ greatly they are both very dedicated to their spelling and spend many hours studing their words and spelling them. Both of the students parents are very supporitve of their children, they just show it in very diferent ways. Neils' family paid people in India a great deal of money to be praying for him duing the spelling bee. His greandfather also said that id he wins he is going to feed 5,000 people in India. Aprils parents are very optimistic and are very involved. In the audiance you can see her dad paceing around and her mother's hands sweating. When Megan got home in the afternoon she noticed that her grandmother was very pale and did not look healthy. She asked her grandmother what was wrong and she would not answer. She refused to let Megan call her doctor. Megan keeps having weird dreams about the house and her grandmother and her cousin Matt. Tonight her dream was about her and Matt playing in a room with a bunch of huge wheels and she got caught up in one of the wheels and he would not help her out. Strange things keep happening aroung the house, grandmothers bible was moved again. Megan wanted to figure out what was going on and why these things were happening, so she went to Mrs. Riley a lady that used to work in her grandmothers house and has special powers and knows many things. Megan told Mrs. Riley what had been moved and where it was moved to. She told Megan that when her grandmother was a little girl that is where her things were, she said that she thought Avril's ghost was moving the things back to where she wanted them at night.
This story is starting to get more intense, Megan is starting to uncover things that she had never known about the family. I think that it is going to get more freaky when she had more dreams and more things begin to start moving aound the house. I also, think that once her grandmother finds out that she is looking into the situation she is going to get angry with Megan.

Long Weekend
We had a super long weekend, no school Thursday or Friday! I really did not do anything too exciting. I just went to the Y and worked out and then on Friday my best friend had people over so I went to her house, but had to leave early because I had to wake up at 5:30 am for my show choir competition. We went to Northridge High School for our competition, we preformed at 3:45 in the afternoon and had awards around7. WE MADE FINALS! We preformed again at 10:15 pm. We found out that going into finals we were in third place out of six. We were 4.1 points away from being in first place. We preformed and had finals awards at 1 am. We ended up getting fifth place, it was a very big disappointment because we all had our best show ever!

Im trying a new book, that is completly different than anything that I have read before. It is about an adopted girl Megan that gets a letter from her grandmother saying that she wants her to come and stay with her for a few weeks, she does not know her grandmother very well. She goes and stays with her in the huge house. She arrives and her mothers old friend picks her up at the airport and takes her to the grandmothers house. While Megan is exploring the town she talks to some people that say the mansion that the grandmother lives in has a ghost in it. Megan thinks this is weird because she is told that the gohsts name is Avril and when she was taking a walk one day she saw a ttombstone that was for Avril, she died when she was 16 the same age as Megan. Megan is kind of freaked out by this because she has had weird dreams about a dollhouse and a girl. Also, in the time that she has been living there her grandmothers bible has misterously moved places. Her cousin that she has never met before, Matt, is also living there. He does not like her at all, and she secretly has a crush on him. Megan asked her grandmother about the ghost thing and she freaked out and got very angry.
I think taht this book will be interesting, even though it is not my usual girley books that I normally read it seems interesting to me. I did not want to put it dowm when i was reading. I want to find out who this Avril is and if there actually is a ghost in the grandmothers house.

This is my last reading of this book! Haven was starting to get really stressed out because her sisters wedding was in three days! She went into work at the kids shoe store, and it was a summer sidewalk sale so there was really low prices on shoes and they were all just thrown into boxes. One lady got very angry because she thought one of the prices were still way too high. The lady was a real jerk, and threw the shoe at Haven. Haven got so angry that she ran after the lady and threw the shoe right back at her and hit her right in the head. She didnt know what to do so she just took off runing out of the mall. She stayed at a playground in the neighborhood and then went home. Her boss must have called her mom becauase her mom asked her what had happened. She just said she didnt want to talk about it. She woke up and it was on e day before the wedding and Ashley had a talk with her about her attitude and being selfish, Haven got very defensive and just left the house. She was walking when she heard Sumners car, he was going to the nursing home. She went there and they danced together for the last song. Sumner said that he needed to take her home but she didnt want to go. She was very emoational and he insisted on taking her home. She refused and got out of the car and ran as it was thunderstorming. She ran and ran and got lost off of the path. Finally, she heard Ashley yelling her name. They were so angry at eachother and Ashley finally came out and told her that Sumner had cheated on her with another girl and broke her heart. They all just went to bed with out talking and at the wedding the next day as Ashley was walking down the isle Haven began to cry, Ashley just hugged her and cried also. And that was the end.
I was greatly dissappointed with this book. I thought it was going to end much diferently. I thought that Sumner and Haven would end up together and I never expected Sumner to have cheated on Ashley!

The family all went to the dress place to get fitted for the dresses for Ashley and Lewis' wedding. Of course the lady commented about how tall Haven, and said that the dress would not be able to fit her. After the dress fitting, Haven and her mom went to lunch and her mother told her that she is going to be selling their house. Haven and Casey, her best friend, were watching T.V and heard the her father and Lorena are expecting a baby. She was shocked. The next day Casey and Haven went to the mall to watch the fall preview fashion show. The clothing was very unexpected and gaudy. Ashley had her bachlorette party and got wayyy too crazy! Haven found her on the front step drunk with underwear around her head. Lewis was so angry at her and said that he could not even be with her at the moment.
Alot happened in these chapters, the incident between Ashley and Lewis was crazy and defiantly not a positive in their relationship, I will be interested to see how they work things out. And how the wedding goes

Of course the lady commented about how tall Haven, and said that the dress would not be able to fit her. After the dress fitting, Haven and her mom went to lunch and her mother told her that she is going to be selling their house. Haven and Casey, her best friend, were watching T.V and heard the her father and Lorena are expecting a baby. She was shocked. These chapters start out with Haven going out to dinner with her dad, which is something that she has done every thursday night with him since her parents have gotten divorced. Her father works for the news station so everyone in the town knows him so she dosent get to spend that much time with him cconsidering people are always walking up to him saying hi. Someone walked over to grind pepper on Havens food and she recognized the voice. She looked up and realized that is was Sumner, Ashley's ex boyfriend. They sat in a booth and talked about everything, Haven even told him that he sister was going to be getting married to Lewis. Sumner was so happy for Ashley and he sent her congrats. When Havens dad took her back home after dinner, they saw Lewis and Ashley sitting in his car and Haven knew they were in a fight. Later she found out that Lewis had not been very nice to her when she was having dinner with his family. She told Lewis to leave she just needed some time. Haven saw Sumner again at the mall where she worked the next week. He picked her up on the golf cart and they sped around the mall together.
Im not sure what the outcome of the book is going to be yet, but I predict that Haven is going to start to like Sumner. Even though she is alot younger than him and he dated her older sister, I can still see her liking him alot.

The boko goes backa forth of the present and future. So Haven will talk about what is going on and then go back and talk about something that happend in the past. She tells the reader about a trip that her family took to the beach when her parents were still together. Her older sister Ashley took her boyfriend of the time, Sumner. Haven loved him, he was the only boyfriend that Ashley had that she liked. Then the story goes back to the present and Haven is waking up to another one of Ashley and Lewis, her fiance, wedding crisis'. A woman named Lydia was the family's neighbor that came to be besst friends with Havens mom. One of the bridesmaids, Caorl, said that she could not make it to the weddin because her husbands family was getting together that night. This was after she made Ashley change the dressed because they were not as "conservative" as she would have liked. Haven waited till the fighting was over to go downstairs and head to the mall where she worked at Little Feet, a shoe store. When she got home after work, she helped Ashley pick out what she was going to wear to have dinner with Lewis's family.

SHOW CHOIR
We had a competition last night at Lafeytte Jerferson High School. Our call time was 5 a.m becuase it is a little over a two hour drive to the school. We prefromed at 2 p.m then awads were at 5. We made finals! we were so excited because all of the schools were really good that were there. We preformed again at 8:30 p.m. and then waited till midnight for awards. We ended up getting 4th runner up, but we were still very proud because we know that we did our best. I got home and into bed around 3 a.m. It was a longgg day, I was up for 23 hours.

Im starting this new book, and im really excited about it mostly because it has a cool cover of a girl doing a cartwheel on the beach half way into the ocean. The main characters name is Haven who is 15 and has a 21 year old sister named Ashley. The story starts out with Haven, Ashley, and their mom in their kitchen. It is the day of their fathers wedding. He is getting married to his co-worker named Lorena Queen. Her and the girls father work together at the news station, so they nicknamed her Weather pet. Both of the girls are going to be in their fathers wedding. The girls mom was invited but she decided to stay home because that would just be awkward considering that the dad had afair on the mom with Lorena and they got divorced a year and a half ago.
I think I am really going to enjoying this book. I can somewhat relate to it bacause my parents are also divorced and I can relate to some of the things that Haven weth though and is going through. I will be interested to see how the whole wedding plays out.

Anna woke up and realized that she had food poisoning, and had been throwing up all over the place since being at the pier. In her room stood Dee and Sam. Anna talked to her dad about how she wanted to just go home and how bad of a father he had been, he promised that he wanted to change and he would. Her father told her that the internship that he had arranged for her fell through and now she would have to go to Beverly Hills High School. On her first day of school she ran into Adam from the New Years party. He showed her around, then right as the bell was about to ring she heard someone calling her name. It was Ben! He told her he could explain why he left that night on the boat, but she wanted nothing to do with him. She said he had five minutes to explain, he said that one of his friends had over dosed and he went to take her to the hopsital. He said sorry a million and one times, but for her that was not enough. She left him and said to leave her alone.
I am sooo proud of Anna! she told Ben off , which he deserved. He was a jerk and even if a friend did need his help, still Anna deserved a phone call to tell her what was going on. This book turned out to not be that bad after all. A different read then i would have chosen, but still decent.

The night after the New Years party and Ben leaving Anna on the boat, she woke up to a pounding on the door. It was a guy named Monty, Sam's assistant. Anna had forgoten, but she told Sam that she would help feed homeless people on New Years Day. Monty reminded her of the commitment, so she quick threw on some clothes and grabed something for breakfast and got in the car with Monty to go to the pier. When she got there she saw Sam and realized that Sam wasent doing this to be night, she was doing it for her school community service. Anna took a walk with Parker who she had met at the wedding because she did not feel well. Anna was freezing and her stomach was killing her, her and Parker went back to where everyone else was so they could find her some water. When they got back all they had was warm orange juice, and that was not going to help her stomach. Parker showed up a little later with water, Anna sipped it. She started feeling awful, when she opened her mouth to say something she threw up all over her Cammie, the girl that hated her.
I thought these chapters were hilarious. Anna sleeping and totaly forgetting about the feeding, Monty just showing up and Anna's house, and Anna pukeing all over Cammie. I will be very interested to see what cammie's reaction to the vomit will be and what will happen with Ben because nothing else has been said about his dissapearing the night of New Years on the yacht.

Teenagers, Friends, and Bad Decisions
The article was 100% true. Scary, but true. I know that when people are in the car with me I am more distracted than if I would be alone in the car. When I first got my license I thought it was so dumb that I had to wait six months till I could drive someone in my car. After reading the article I realize why they have that law in place. There would be so many more accidents if there was not a law restricting the passengers. It only takes a split second for something bad to happen. Think about the students at Homestead that have gotten killed. That could be you if you are not careful and pay attention to what you are doing. This article was about other people being in the car, I can not imagine the statistics if it was over texting and driving.

Cabaret Night 2011
Friday night was Cabaret Night for Homestead Show Choir, its our biggest fund raiser of the year. There is a silent auction and a live auction. Then, at the end of the night both show choirs preform for everyone that came. We earn alot of money from this night. The group of friends including Ben and Anna went to the party at the Warner brothers, Cammie, San and Dee were all still being nasty to Anna becuase they were jealous. San came up at the party and stole Ben to dance, she is in live with him, but wont tell anyone because her best friend Cammie dated him and now Anna is with him. Cyn, Anna's best friend from back home called her to wish her a Happy New Year's. She loved this! Ben told Anna he had a surprise for her and took her to his yacht, well actually his dads yacht. They shared a romantic night on the boat together. Cammie got drunk and like every year went to the cematary to visit her mom and wish her a happy New Years.
This book is deffintanly growing on me alot. The world that these teens live in is a world that none of us know. They have no worries and they have no rules. They basically do whatever they want with no parenting at all. Anna spent the night on the boat with Ben! Her father had no idea where she was the entire night and he did not even care, my parents would be freaking out.

This book seems so unrealistic that it is almost interesting. These kids are complete spoiled brats its funny. Ban and Anna are at the wedding, and of course it is way over the top because the rich can only have the best. Anna and Ben got seated at the table with Dee, Cammie, and some of their other rich friends. The entire dinner they gossiped and talked about other people. Talk that Anna was not into at all. When Anna and Ben got up to dance Cammie stepped on her dress and it ripped and you could see everything. normally she would be so embaressed but she had to act cool to show to Cammie that she didnt care. When she went to the bathroom to fix her dress she saw Sam, the daughter of the man getting married. She was crying and Anna helped her fix her make-up. Sam asked anna to leave the wedding and come to a party with her and her friends. Anna said she would go if it was ok with Ben. Anna's dress was totaly ruined and she did not want to stop home, so they stopped in quick to a store on their way to the party.
This totaly is not my kind of book at all. Something about it though keeps me wanting to read more. Like why Sam is being so nice to Anna. Also, I want to find out what Cammie is going to do next to Anna to try to ruin her and Ben's relationship

Well im starting a new book. Which was recomended to me by a friend. Basically the book is showing the life of the "A-List" teens in California. The main character Anna Percy flies to L.A. to spend some time with her father whom she has not seen in over a year. On the plane ride there she is sitting next to a total jerk. He keeps hitting on her so, the guy across the isle Ben saves her, and they end up talking and Anna drank too much so they hooked up in the bathroom on the plaane and got in trouble (scandelous!). Bes asks Anna to come with her to a wedding and she agrees. She gets off the plane to find her father mia and his assistant there to pick her up. Her father never showed up for lunch and when she came home she found him under the gazebo asleep after smoking weed. Ben picks Anna up for the weding, when she gets there she in introduced to Cammie, Dee, and Sam. Cammie dated Ben so she already hates Anna and the other girls just go along with it because they are like the three muskateers. As they are all talking a guy walks up and talks to Dee, turns out he is the jerk on the plane that would not leave Anna alone! Cammie is planning a way to ruin Ben and Annas new love interest, she has just not though of a way yet.
I think I am going to enjoy this book. Im usually not in to this "girley" of a book, but i think it will keep me wanting more to find out exactly what Cammie and her two best friends are going to do to Anna.

Favorite Book
May favorite book would have to be the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan. My campus life leader Liz told me to read the book last summer and I was kinda iffy about reading it, but it turned out that it was great. Basically the book is about why God put us on the earth and how you should live your life for him. If you are not religious I do not suggest the book, although it has a very powerful message. I would take it to the pool every day and not be able to put it down.

This is it... my last reading of this book! The family was all together because of chirstmas time, Annabel and Owen are still fighting, and Emily and Annabel still havent talked to anyone about Will Cash. These chapters stary out with kirsten showing the family the documentary that she had been working on, they all loved it! Annabel decided to go to the radio station and talk to Owen about why she has been so reserved lately. It was really tough for her to tell him about the night at the party with Will Cash, but she did. He told her that she needs to tell her family and get im into trouble because that is not right. It was ten times as hard to tell her family about he night, but she got through it and a court date was set. Annabel asked Owen if he could be there with her and he promised he would be right by her side. When they got to the courtroom she looked everywhere for Owen, but could not find him. After the court was done she walked outside and there was Owen waiting for her. She noticed that he had a black eye. He explained to her that he went to a club and saw Will and his anger got the best of him and he got in a fight with him. The verdict on Will was that he had 6 years in prision. The book ended with Annabel and Owen talking about music and being happy again.
I cant believe this book is over...the ending was terrible! I like books that leave you wanting more, and this book just left me satidfied. Although its good that Will is locked up i think it needed a more drramatic ending.

After the court was done she walked outside and there was Owen waiting for her. She noticed that he had a black eye. He explained to her that he went to a club and saw Will and his anger got the best of him and he got in a fight with him. The verdict on Will was that he had 6 years in prision. The book ended with Annabel and Owen talking about music and being happy again.
I cant believe this book is over...the ending was terrible! I like books that leave you wanting more, and this book just left me satidfied. Although its good that Will is locked up i think it needed a more drramatic ending.

Annabel and Owen are still at the club listning to the band, and Rolly is still intarigating Clarke Annabel's old friend who Rolly is "destin to be with". When Annabel returned to school she was in the bathroom and heard people talking about Will Cash and Emily (the model she used to be friends with). She heard them say that Emily is pressing charges on Will for sexual assult. Which is exactly what he did to Annabel so its not the only time that he has done it. Annabel's mom got a call from the modeling agent and she got a very well know department store's spring commercial. She still has not told her mom that she does not want to model. Owen and Annabel had their first fight over something so stupid, they are not talking or even eating lunch together anymore. It was nearing chritstmas time and Kirsten the oldest sister came home from New York to be with the family. The family went to a coffee house and all listened to Whitney read the story she had written about the family and her eating disorder. When she read the story it was almost as if the family ahd such a better sence of togertherness and it brought them together.
These chapers were not the most eventful, besides Annabel and Owens fight which wasent even that great. There are not that many pages left so im hopeing something exciting is going to happen soon! I think that annabel and Owen are going to resolve all of their issues and get back together.

These Chapters were filled with many crazy events, and if I explained them all it would take forever so im going to sum them up. Owen and Annabel went through the car was together and listned to music because according to Annabel "everything sounds better in the car wash". In the car wash they had their FIRST REAL KISS!! AHH...I was so excited and it was perfect. In these chapters Annabel also revealed why her and Sophie are no longer friends. They were at a party together over the summer and Sophies boyfriend Will Cash got drunk, and basically tried to rape Annabel. When all this was going on Sophie walked in and saw what was going on and got the total wrong idea. She never spoke to her again, that eplains all of the rude comments at school. Also, in these chapters was Annabel's fashion show, which she cold not wait for that to be over so she could meet up with Owen at a club and listen to a band. Rolly and Owen were at the club, and Rolly was in love with this girl, she turned around and it was Clarke! Rolly go made Annabel introduce them.
These chapters were the most exciting by far! I could not put the book down when Annable was explaining the part about the party. You have to keep reading to find out what happend. Also, the first kiss! are you kidding me it was great! I cant wait to finish the book.

Annabel once again woke up early to liseten on Owens radio show. After the show was finished she called into the station to tell Owen what she though of his choice of music. He inviter her to breakfast and of course she said yes. He, Owen, and Rolly, Owens radio partner, went to breakfast. Rolly and Owen go every sunday after their radio show, Rolly lost a bet he and Owen had so he has to pay for it every time. When they got to the restraunt it was freezing inside, so Owen the gentlman that he is gave Annabel his jacket to wear. They all enjoyed breakfast, when Annabel got home she realized that she still had Owen's jacket on and in the pocket was his beloved ipod that he never went anywhere without. After cooking dinner with Whitney, Annabel went over to Owens to give him his ipod back. Before she could even right the doorbell there was Owent little sister freaking out that the model Annabel was at her door. She brought her in and showed her her room and talked her ear off. Her and her friends where doing a "photo shoot", and Owen was taking the pictures for them. As the girls went to change thier outfits Owen and Annabel had their first kiss! Which was soon interupted by one of the annoying little girls. It would have been so perfect!
Owen and Annabel we so close to having the perfect kiss! They are really starting to be into eachother, the breakfast they shared, him giving her his jacket, and the photo shoot are all awesome moments they shared together. They just need to date already! They are perfect for eachother.

Owen and Annabel continue to talk about music and become closer. They still disagree on their tastes of the type of music. A real turning point of their "relationship" is when Owen makes Annabel many cd's, and the last cd's title is "just listen"....(get it? the title of the book). Annabel's parents leave to go out of town for the weeked and leave Annaven and her sister Whitney, the one with the eating disorder. Annabel felt lucky that she had a fashion show this weekend so that she would not have to spend much time at home. When she went to the fashion show at the mall, Owen's sister and mom were there. Like always, Owens sister freaked out when she saw Annabel. The chapters end with Annabel going home and seeing Whitney on the front porch planting things. She tells her that her tharapist told he to plant herbs and see them grow, that it will be "theraputic".
I think that these chapters are the real turning poitn for Owen and Annabel. It is deffintantly apparent that there is a love interest between the two, and I am curious to see where it will lead to. Possible a relationship? Or maybe Annabel starting to like Owen's techno music? who knows...

He asked what she thought about it and she just gave a very vague answer. Somwthing interesting about Owen is that he does not lie to anyone at anytime even if it does hurt them. He asked for the truth from Annabel. She finally said that she hated every part of it. When Annabel got home she found a note saying that she did not recieve the modeling job that she ahd done a photo shoot for. She was not at all dosapointed because as we all know she does not like modeling anymore. Right at the end of the chapter Annabel is driving home and sees Owen walking on the side of the road, his car stopped working so she told him to get in and she would take him home.

The chapter starts out at a photo shoot that annabel is at, and has been going to for many years. She still has not told her mother that she does not like modeling. Annabel talks about a girl named Emily that she does modeling with. Her and Emily used to be friends, but something happend that is not told in the story. The story then goes back in time to a night that Sophie Emily and Annabel all went to a party together. At the party Sophie told annabel that she did not want to be there with Emily so they had to ditch her. Annabel found Sophie later that night in a room with a guy named Will Cash. The started dateing after that night, and Annabel and Emily were never friends again. After her photo shoot, she goes home and her dad asked her to watch TV with her, something they do together all of the time, but this time she said no for some strange reason.
There is deffintantly a change that is happening in Annabel, andd this section of reading it became very apparent that she is changing for the worse. Ever since her and Sophie stopped being friends she just is not the same person. I have seen this with some of my friends. Starting out chapter five Annabel finds herself alone at school, she just had a rough run in with Sophie. Annabel got so worked up that she actually threw up. To her suprises there is Owen Armstrong, the boy who sits on the same ledge as her for lunch. She always tought he was weird and would ttry to catch glimpses of him but never could. And here he was helping her up and giving her a tissue to whipe her mouth. Annabel did not have a ride home so Owen offered to drive her home. In the car he played weird tribal music. Annabel learned alot about him on the way home, she found out that he is in anger management class. She also learned in the car that Owen has his own raido show that plays on Sunday mornings at 7.
There are so many times that people judge people by how they look, or what you hear about them. the saying "dont judge a book by its cover" is so true. I knew this person that wasent the greatest looking, and one day I had to work with him as a partner in a class. I came to find out that this guy was actually really nice and had a really kind heart. I have read many Sarah Dessen books so I figured that starting this project with one of her novels would be a great beginning. The book Just Listen starts off with a girl named Annabel, and she is watching herself on TV in a department stores commercial. You first guess is that she would be excited to see herself on the television, but she seems as though she is descusted by it. After that commercial the scene is the frist day of school and she is very very nervous as she is wating in the parking lot to go in. Annabel talks about how she is nervous to see and come in contact with a girl named Sohpie. She does not reveil why she is so nervous about seeing her. When the two saw eachother in the parking lot Sophie called Annable a very rude name that is not appropriate for school.
The book goes sot of back and fourth bbetween present time and the past. The book is told from Annabels point of view. She then goes on to tell how she met Sophie. Sophie had moved into their neighborhood and was the total girley girl with pink flip fops and a orange bikini at the pool. One day when the two were both waiting in line Sophie turned to Annabel and rudley said, "What are you looking at"? For the next week Sophie followed around Annabel's older sister Kirsten. Annabel has two older sisters Kirsten and Whitney. All three of the girls are models. One day when they were at the pool the new girl Sophie got in a fight with Kirsten and left without taking any of her things, so Annabel and Clarke, Annabel's best friend, went to her house and gave her her things. The three girls started to hang out and became good friends. Clarke was the more reserved friend so one night when Annabel and Sophie went to go hang out with guys Clarke stayed home, she was angry at Annabel for ditching her for the guys. The two best friends never spoke again.
Annabel is not friends with either Clarke nor Spohie by the time school starts so she feels alone and helpless and has to sit by herself everyday at lunch. She sits along a wall about six feet down from her is a guy Owen Armstrong that is very unique and she is constantly trying to figure hime out.
Annabels home life is not the best. Her oldest sister Kirsten lives in New York and is a model. Her other older sister Whitney went and moved out to New York with her to model as well. Whitney does not take the pressure well and devlops an eating disorder. It is very apparent to the family that she has a problem when she comes home to visit, but she denyes it. Untill one night that she is home visiting and Annabel finds her laying on the bathroom floor unconcious. She is taken to the hospital, then put into a treatment facility.
Although, Annabel does not like modeling anymore she still does it bacause she wants to make her mom happy. She is going to a photo shoot for a department store.

Why Read?!?
Considering that I do not like to read at all...well I take that back I like to read if it is a book that I choose and I am not being forced. Since Teachers have made students read books for school purposes I believe that it has turned student off to reading just for fun. So, I looked up the top ten reasons why you should read, I thought it would be a great first blog posting.
So here it is the top 10 reasons why you should read!
10. It’s fuel efficient.
9. You need to have a backup in case the TV and Internet go out.
